Vermon explains that Magic is different from religion. Magic is more like a business transaction. In magic, a magician uses supernatural powers to achieve specific results, but this is done in exchange for a price. Magic follows fixed formulas and is more impersonal. Unlike religion, which involves strong personal feelings, community, and common beliefs, magic is focused on individual needs and does not create a sense of community or offer a way of life or moral guidance. Magic is often seen as a primitive form of science because it relies on specific methods to achieve desired outcomes.
